Post Estrella
Feb. 25th, 2008 07:28 pmI went. I was there for a total of **nine** days, and that was a long time.
So, the high points (yes there were some)...
The road trip was nice. I rode down with Bjarki and Hamish in Hamish's truck. We stayed at Ulrich and Rachel's Friday night, and headed out to the site Saturday morning.
Land allocation was super smooth!! The online registration program was so helpful! I really hope we get to use that again next year. Even the usual "squeaky wheels " said they had enough space. Yay!!
The daytime weather was pretty nice for the first part of the week. I enjoyed warming in the sun. I don't know where a couple of the days actually went, though.
I had fun hanging out with the peeps from Artemisia that were there early - Flora and Aggie were awesome making so much wonderful soup. They are really awesome people.
I was especially happy to see Brahim when he arrived on Monday! I am so glad he is back in Artemisia - I have missed him. One of the first things he said was that he had to ask me a serious question sometime later.
So on Tuesday (or was it Wednesday??), I was in the Brotherhood camp having many afternoon margaritas with the gas powered blender, and Brahim asked me if I would be his consort for Crown Tourney when his BoD sanctions are up in 2 1/2 years (ish). I went back to my camp, talked to my hubby, talked to some other friends, and went back and talked to Brahim again after margaritas wore off. The conclusion: It looks like a pretty good probability that it will work out that way. (I am not willing to say that it will happen with 100% certainty because too much could happen between now and then. But I am going to start planning for little things I can do to make it work if it does happen.)
On one of the nights I was visiting with Haley in her trailer 2, and I asked her what job I could have on staff since she is one of the main autocrats for next year. After some discussion, it was decided that I could help Mariana with Royal liaison stuff. I am SUPER excited about that. I adore Mariana, and I think we will make a great team for this stuff.
The Kingdom Breakfast on Saturday went REALLY well. There were lots of people that came and enjoyed the breakfast. And there were lots of helpers to put it all together. I am glad it happened. And no, I am not volunteering to do it again, however, I will share my knowledge with someone else so they can do it next year :)
I then spent a lovely day Saturday on Merchants Row visiting with people and shopping to my heart's content. In my t-tunic and long johns. I bought trim and stuff to make lucet cord, and nifty little embroidery things, and more metal thread stuff. Mostly I had fun hanging out and running into all kinds of people.
Dona Rowan and Sir Bartholomew.
Dinner in camp with some of the Aten peeps that make me laugh my ass off. Yes, Haley, I do think you are adorably funny!
I rode home with Sean so he did not have to drive home alone, and that was nice too. I really like road trips with him - they are relaxed, and we talk about all kinds of things.

The not so high points....
It was cold the first night we were there. On Sunday, Hamish took me to Wal Mart so I could buy another blanket and some padding for my cot.
The gentleman from Starkhafn who passed away. While I didn't know him, several of my friends did, and this hit them rather hard. I felt terrible for all of them, especially the man's family.
The rain and the sole (and soul) sucking mud. It zapped my energy and caused me to go into a bad funk until it finally stopped. I did not go to the Artemisian party even though it was in the next camp over. I ended up with some pulled muscles in my legs from trying to walk to the privy one of the nights.
I didn't make it to any classes again.
I spent some time being very anti-social during the war. I had another one of those times where I just felt withdrawn and like things were going on around me and I wasn't really part of some of them. :( That is why it took me so long to blog about it - I felt like I couldn't find positive things to say. But now that I am writing this, I realize it isn't as bad as it seems.
Maybe part of the problem is that I always go to Estrella early and stay late and have jobs to do. Maybe I should try just going to play sometime. But not next year - I already have a job to do. *grin*

So another Estrella has come and gone. An Tir and the West have agreed to be our allies next year. And I am already making plans for things to make the Royal Liaison job super cool and super fun.
Now I am back to the day to day - work at my job that pays the bills, and doing Seneschal type stuff. Life definitely goes on.......
