ETA (5/2/09):   This is not a new update - I am top posting it to make it easier for people to find.  Please feel free to skip if you have been here before.

Hi there, readers.
I decided it is time to post a blog to talk about who I am.  This may seem redundant to those of you who I have been in touch with for the last 20+ years, but thanks to the wonderfulness that is facebook (and other social networking sites) I have found some people that I thought I would never get to talk to again.  YAY!!

So here's some info about me.  Some of this goes back old-school, and you may think it is too much info, but you don't have to read....   If you are coming here from another site and don't have a LJ account, you are welcome to comment, but comments will be screened here so they may not show up on the list right away.  This is obviously an open post since I am sending people here that might not have live journal accounts.

Anyway, here goes....

Ending up in Montana.... )

origins of my SCA experience.... )...she met the boy she's gonna marry.... )
then there was Utah.... )
You are welcome to go through the archives of my journal here.  There are a number of open entries that will fill in some of the gaps.  There are always  more details, but there is also work today, and I need to get there on time.

I posed this one to dukesean . For those that don't know, he is my best friend. So I thought it would be interesting to see what he asked. I expected some challenging questions, but DAMN!

Here they are.

1. Who are your three favorite Knights? One SCA(you can't pick me), one historical and one from Arthurian legend.

2. Would you have become as comfortable with yourself as you are without the SCA?

3. Are the Cubs EVER going to win the World Series?

4. Where will you be living in 20 years?

5. I have the 'Food Giggle'. What do you do that really excites you with uncontrollable giddiness?
======

long answers to short questions - go figure.... )

So there you go – long winded as usual and I hope it was worth the wait.

OK - I'm in...
Leave me a comment saying "Resistance is Futile."

• I'll respond by asking you five questions so I can satisfy my curiosity

• Update your journal with the answers to the questions

• Include this explanation in the post and offer to ask other people questions.

Anyway.... I must be getting ready for work now. But I leave you with this.

As Thanksgiving is here, I wanted to mention some of the things for which I am thankful.
1) My husband. I really do love him.
2) My friends and family. I many not be the best about communicating regularly but you are in my heart all the time.
3) That I am healthy and have a place to live. Things could be so much worse.
4) I am grateful for all the love I receive and all the love I am able to give.

Happy thanksgiving everyone.

I have been promising an update post for some time.  I tried to write one, really, but damn livejournal ate my post.  Really!

The last six weeks have been a flurry of sick (with the cellulitis that landed me in the hospital for three days a week before Thanksgiving), a trip to Montana for Thanksgiving with the in-laws, playing catch up at work because I was gone for a total of two weeks with the sick (and behind on my work before I got sick).  I had to go to a wound care specialist because my leg was not healing properly on its own.  The skin is still quite sensitive and red, but I went from having about 2/3 of my lower left leg covered with scabs and stuff (details avoided to spare you) to having one spot on the back of my calf that is still healing.  I also now have to wear compression socks for the rest of time.  They are sooo fashionable (sarcasm!!) and it is taking some time to get them fitted correctly.  But I will do that so I hopefully can avoid a recurrence of cellulitis.  I apparently got lucky last time in that I did not have the major pain and long term problems that some people have, so I don't want to find out what it can be like.

I have made some lifestyle changes, namely with the food choices, and need to make more lifestyle changes (EXERCISE!!)

So with the food choices -
more protein
less salt
WAY less sugar
less caffeine
more iron
more vitamins
veggies!!!
overall drop in calorie intake.

The better food has helped.   My energy level is better overall than it has been in some time.  The iron supplements are helping with that as well, but they are a little hard on my stomach.

Exercise is a challenge.  I know I will feel better in the long run if I get moving, but it is physically painful because I am so horribly out of shape.

I did fairly well avoiding the high sugar high fat holiday foods.  I am by no means a saint, but when it came to sweets and junky foods,  I made myself stop and think about whether or not the calories or fat in the item were worth it.  Basically, if I was going to allow myself to eat something that is completely not healthy, I wanted to really enjoy it.  And I found that once I asked myself that, I more often than not was able to walk away from it.  I also went to a variety of potluck parties this year and took green salads most of the time (cut fruit to the dessert party) so I would have something I knew I could eat.

I had hoped to sign up for weight watchers online by now, but it turned out that money was a little tighter than I thought.  Hubby has not been working regular hours the last two weeks, so I wanted to take care of bills before buying weight watchers membership stuff.

Christmas was meh this year.  I just couldn't get in the mood.   I did get some christmas stuff for hubby - mostly I gave him an overflowing Christmas stocking full of random snack foods from the Asian grocery store.  It was pretty funny.  I also got him a miniature Christmas tree with mini ornaments and a string of battery operated lights :)

New year's eve was nice.  We hung out at a friend's house and played guitar hero and talked.  I am glad we went.

I need to get cracking on sewing stuff and Royalty Liaison stuff for Estrella.  I am getting excited about that.

Happy new year to everyone.  I hope you find what you are seeking.
