the last week in summary
Nov. 22nd, 2008 08:59 amSo Taber and I started out to the Toys for Tots event in Arrow's Flight last Saturday. I was sitting in the hall visiting with some lovely folks, and suddenly got a really bad shaking chill. I thought I was just tired, so I went out to the car, which was parked in the sunshine, and got my big coat and tried to curl up and rest in the passenger seat. I put down one of the back windows and curled up with a big long coat and a cloak on me. I still coudn't get warm.
So I got my honey and we went home again. We were debating about taking me to the insta care, and decided to wait because I felt OK once the chills stopped. I got supplies to get rehydrated and went home and drank a bunch of water and clear soda. Went to bed, was feeling a little shaky, but I wasn't too worried.
On Sunday, I puttered with projects and still was doing OK - very tired, but I get like that sometimes. So I napped and relaxed. Sunday night, I was feeling a little worse. Monday, I woke up, decided not to go to work, and noticed my lower left leg looked a little red. I decided to go to insta care. The reason for that had as much to do with the fact that I need a doctors note for work as much as it did with the fact I didn't feel well. The doctor said she was very concerned about the condition of my lower left leg, which was red and swollen, and wanted to get me on IV antibiotics right away. So they did that, and took a bunch of blood work, and sent me home with some prescriptions that I got filled (antiinflammatories and antibiotics). The doctor said it looked like cellulitis, which I found out is They told me to come back the next day. I went back the next day and they sent me to the hospital.
My hubby took me to the hospital emergency room, and within an hour they admitted me and started pumping me with antibiotics. And there I sat for the rest of the day Tuesday, all day Wednesday and Thursday, and until 6pm Friday (today). They filled me with antibiotics and IV fluids, fed me decent food, told me that I am severely anemic, and that my cellulitis was not (fortunately) complicated by other matters such as necrosis (heard of flesh eating bacteria??) or blood clots. When they decided I could go home, my leg still had (has) large blisters all over it and they are messy. I am not going to be more graphic, but it is pretty gross.
So I am home and feeling better, but still have to be careful with myself for a while. We are still going to try to go to Montana for Thanksgiving. Depends on how followup stuff goes.
ETA: Sorry for the wierd cut - LJCut does that to me and I don't want to lose the whole entry to fix it.
