I guess I am part of 'the establishment' in the SCA now.  :)   I was reading a thread of posts on a forum board that had to do with residency and tracking of where SCA people play vs. where they live.  I guess if people that administer and serve as officers and actually care about how SCA business is conducted, and the fact that the SCA, Inc. as an organization can continue are 'the establishment," I will accept my role in that.  I have always believed that the SCA has a place for everyone and I guess I should embrace this as my lot.  Oh the ordeal  *grin*

I know that the SCA administration is not 100% ideal in all its' aspects.  However, I have been privileged to work with a lot of different people, incluuding all levels from brand new officers to past and present Board members,  who spend a lot of time and energy in different capacities to make the administration of the SCA as smooth as possible.  I have also spent a lot of time reading messages and talking to people who just want to gripe about how the administration of the SCA interferes in their fun.  I usually spend some time trying to dechipher if they just want to gripe or if they truly want to work to find ways to make tings better.  The former category does not get a lot of attention from me, whereas the latter is very helpful.  But to people in the former category, I have often wanted to say "You might not like the way the SCA is administered, but the game as you know it, for better or worse, would be gone without it."  I do not believe that everyone in the Society has to be a servant or admininstrator all the time, because the SCA needs 'consumers' in the form of people who come and participate in all that is done and created.  Otherwise, why do the administrators bother?  There needs to be a balance in there somewhere where the hardcore administrators understand that not everyone wants to be like them, and the hardcore "I just want to PLAY" people acknowledge that some level of administration needs  to happen so they have a place to play.

Damn this Libra that I am.  I always want to find balance in everything, and some things have no balance (at least not obvious balance)

RE:  My eye:  It is progressing well.  At my last appointment, the doctor said that  the transplant is grafting nicely, and that the fluctulations in vision will happen and continue to improve as the healing continues.  He was really happy with it,   I have noticed that my eyes definitely get sore when I am tired and I can't push through it the way I did before surgery.  No more long nights on the computer for me :)
