As many of you know, I weighed 382 lbs in November.  The scale today said 315 lbs.  I am excited about this.  I am also grateful for the support I have received from many unexpected places.  It got me thinking about the things that inspireand/or motivate me.

Q-Man (who is almost 4 years old now!) and Baby-Z  (5 months).  I want to be able to comfortably get down on the floor and play with them or to be able to run and walk outdoors with them.  I am their "Auntie" and I want to be around to see them grow up.  Their parents are wonderful to me in so many ways, and I am so so so grateful for them.

My 99 year old grandmother.  Who is in nearly perfect health other than the part where she won't wear her hearing aids.

People who stay committed to their health and fitness without being judgmental.  [profile] american_knight  has been a wonderful example of this.  His words and choices, while they don't directly translate to what I hope to accomplish, have helped me realize that goals can be big and goals can be small but all goals are worth pursuing.  There are other people who are very much about fitness (Ralph/Tom) and have been more than willing to talk to me about my health and fitness without making me feel like crap.

Looking in the mirror motivates me.  I still am not happy with the overall picture of me, but I am getting more comfortable with it.  I try to find something I like about the reflection, and it is getting a bit easier.

I am getting there.  I have a long way to go.   But I am celebrating every day - each day is a gift.

Need to go to bed.  Or finish packing.  I can't decide.    See you after Uprising.

Go You!! The best reward for weight loss is how it makes YOU feel. Goals in life are always important, as long as they are Your own goals. If you aren't motivated toward your own goal, you are less likely to achieve it. You are doing what is best for you and your health, and that is the only thing that matters. **Hugs** and congrats again on your successes.

thank you to everyone for the kind words. This support is invaluable to me. That, and the weight watchers point system. :D I had hit a plateau where I was 322 lbs (+/- 2 lbs) for 6 weeks. It feels good to have gotten past that. I think the concept of being 275 lbs by labor day could happen now. If it doesn't, that is OK too. The best part was not freaking out and going completely off my diet when I hit the plateau. That sort of self-discipline is not easy for me (or most people). Thanks again, everyone.

I know about plateaus. Been on one for about 3 months now. But am happy to discover while the weight hasn't been dropping during that time (nor gained again), the inches still have been dropping. Remember that the next time you hit one. Muscle mass weighs more then fat does, and you could be changing the distribution, and till your metabolism gets used to the change in eating habits, and work outs it can seem like a "full Stop" in your progress, but it Will drop again.

True story! I wish I had done measurements when I started, but the thought kinda disgusted me. I was thinking of doing a set of measurements when I hit 300lbs and track it from there. There is a difference in the body shape, some good, some not so much... as my darling husband so sweetly observed about 3 weeks ago: "Hey honey, I can tell you are losing weight. Your boobs look smaller." :D In his defense, he started to say something, stopped himself, and then I asked him to tell me. I guess that's what I get.

When you decide to do the body measure, measure ankles, knees, and wrists as well, you might be surprised where the inches come off. My rings slide off now.
Remember that to make your boobs look smaller the circumference of your torso shrunk. "Less to hug" is a good thing to suggest to hubby for compliments, so he doesn't trip over his tounge. I also don't have measurements from exactly when I started, but got talked into it a couple of months later. When I compared them to the patterns I had laying around from the SCA clothes... I was shocked. You might actually have your beginning measurements around somewhere.

I was actually planning to use my SCA costuming measurement chart to do my measurements, which does include those. Which makes me wonder why I hadn't thought about getting the measurements from my current clothing/patterns. That would be a way to see. Thanks!!
