I was told that there will be Italian food for the Royal Dinner at Estrella. The people who are planning and cooking the meal asked me (in my capacity as Estrella Royalty Liaison) for information regarding the food allergies and dislikes for the various crowns. I think the lady I was corresponding with was somewhat chagrined that the rather lenghty list of information (it is for Crowns from eight Kingdoms, after all) included a lot of items that usually appear in Italian dishes. I am glad she has the information, though. It would be worse if she did not, and the cooks were disappointed because people did not eat the food that was prepared. I am sure that they will do a great job coming up with dishes that will be appealing to as many people as possible, and a variety of stuff something that everyone can eat.
Weekend that was:
Was WONDERFUL!! I had such a good time at Gryphon's Lair 12th Night. A dear man, Vilhelm Silverhammer, was completely blown away by the extent of effort people made on his behalf to make his day completely wonderful as he was sent on vigil in the morning and elevated to the Order of the Pelican in the afternoon. I got to serve as court herald in his stead (he is Their Majesties' main herald) after he was sent on vigil. Which meant that I also got to herald while my friend Fia got her Award of Arms. SQUEE! She was completely blown away as well. I went out to lunch with her and several of our friends, then came back to site and had a relaxing afternoon. The pelican ceremony was before feast, and I was nervous to herald. I think I did just fine. Oh, and did I mention that it was the same hall where I got my Pelican, Bianca got her Laurel and Ellisif got her Pelican? So as I was reading the oath for him to repeat, I was reminded of my oath, and it was almost like reaffiriming it. That was a special moment to me. I did not eat feast, and ended up regretting it because my friends cooked, and they are awesome. But I also was proud of myself for not completely overeating on Saturday.
Sunday was fun, as well. Went up to North Ogden to Bianca's and worked on scribal stuff. It was goodness. I had such a nice time, and got home at a decent hour as well.
Health stuff:
I spent a good while on Saturday night talking to a SCAdian friend who is also a fitness trainer. He gave me some good information. I asked him if he could set me up with a workout routine that I could do on my own on the exercise equipment that I have access to at my apartment. He said he could, so I am going to go see him once he is reestablished with the fitness center where he was working. I will happily pay him for the assistance, and I am really excited about it. I have a doctor's appointment on Thursday. I am hoping I have lost more weight since the last time I went about a month ago. I feel like I have, but I don't have a scale at home. I am debating about getting one because they have a really good quality one for about $30 at Costco (if you have a coupon which I do) I think I need to keep track of my wieght more often than when I go to the doctor, but I don't want to become driven by the scale.
The week that is:
This week will primarily be a push to get monthly reports out at work. I am also helping with the Herald's year end report, and meeting with the Baronial exchequer to help her with some paperwork foo. So it will be a paperwork week. But then it will be done for a while.
Thank goodness for a three day weekend. I need to sew!! And finish a scroll!! And.... maybe even spend some time with my hubby. And maybe cuddle with the new baby girl that my friend (who is remaining nameless because it is her story to tell) is scheduled to bring into the world this Thursday. SUPER SQUEE!!! I was the first non-parent to hold her son, and I am kinda hoping I get to be among the first to hold her daughter. Speaking of friends and daughters, I got the cutest pictures in my email today of baby Emma, the daughter of some other friends. It has been a blessed day.
Working on:
Baronial Herald's doomsday (due 1/20 - also training herald deputy Una how to do it)
Site tokens for Coronation and Collegium
Sewing for Estrella
Scheduling for Estrella Royalty
Friday night goodies I pormised to help with
gifties for peeps
packing
coordinating travel for me and Lochlan and Arianna for Estrella
getting camping stuff for Roisin arranged
paying for kitchen by Friday
Award of Arms scroll by Jan 30th
Disappoinment:
The number of friends who are not making it to Estrella this year. I was so excited to see some of them until I realized I will be fairly busy, too, and might not get to see them as much as I would like.
Excitement:
The number of friends I will get to see and reconnect with.
Wow - I am posty mcposty pants today. Between all the emails I have written today and this really long (for me) blog..... I am posted out.
I am sure I could write more, but that'll do for now. Love to y'all
